my second interview

My second Interview with Yulong
1-Interview preparations:
How did I approach people? When, where, and how did I conduct and record the interview?
             I conducted the interview on Sunday, November 3rd in the library. I went to the library to do my second interview with Chinese students. When I was looking for Chinese students to do the interview in the library, I saw Yulong in the third  floor I was not sure if he will  do the interview with me or not but let me try. Also, when I went to him and ask him if he can help me in the interview, he said to me sounds good. Then, I asked him if I can record him or not he said that there is no problem with the recorder. Also, this is first time meeting with Yulong.

Whom did I interview?
Yulong is from China, Shanghai city. He is 21 years old and he is student in Saint Cloud State University. His major is Engineering. Also, he came to Saint Cloud in September 11, 2013  . In addition, he is living with his friends in apartment close to the university. Moreover, I was comfortable when I talked with him because he was smiling and speaking clearly.
2-Describe the interview: What did surprise me?
I enjoyed in this interview because the interview was very good. Also, Yulong speaks clearly when he answered all the questions. In addition, this is second time for me did the interview with Chinese student and it was a good experience.  Moreover, I learned more about Chinese culture . Also, The thing that surprised me was many people in China do not have religions because they did not believe that.

3-Country Report:
Size, location and population:
China has a large area. The total size of china is: 9,596,961 sq km. Also, location of China is “Eastern Asia, bordering the East China Sea, Korea Bay, Yellow Sea, and South China Sea, between North Korea and Vietnam”. The population of China is 1,349,585,838 in 2013.
Important information about china:-
Religion: There are many religions in China such as  Buddhist, Christian, and Islam.
The capital city: the big city in China is Beijing.
Language: there are many kind of Chinese language such as Putonghua, based, and Cantonese.
Terrains:  there are a lot of terrains in China. China has mostly mountains, high plateaus, deserts in west; plains, deltas, and hills in east.
Export: There are many things china export it like: electrical and other machinery, including data processing equipment, apparel, radio telephone handsets, textiles, integrated circuits.
Import:  electrical and other machinery, oil and mineral fuels, optical and medical equipment, metal ores, motor vehicles.
Military: the people can be in the Chinese military but between 18-24 years old. Also, there are 10,406,544 males and 9,131,990 female in the Chinese military.

4-Interview transcription:   Me & Yulong

Me: hi. What is your name? where are you from?
Yulong: my name is Yulong  and I am from China, Shanghai city
Me: what is your major?
Yulong: my major is engineering.
Me: what is your Favorite Sport?
Yulong: swimming and table tennis .
Me: what do you do in your free time?
Yulong : watch movies, chatting online with my friends, or go to swimming pool .
Me: what are the famous foods in your country?
Yulong: there are many famous foods but  the popular and famous food in my country is Beijing duck .
Me: how do you communicate with each other in your home country?
Yulong: when they are in lunch or dinner they set in a big table and they talk to each other. Also, they use Chinese language  when they want to talk to each other.
Me: what is the clothing style for men and  women?
Yulong: I do not know a lot about cloting  because I do not care about the style clothing but  I think  that men wear t shirts and suits but women wear Skirts.
Me: how are women and men treated differently?
Yulong: usually are equal. Also, they are the same place in society and the women can do the work what the man do.
Me: how has your experience here helped you interpret and respect cultural differences?
yulong: after two or three days when I came here I went to the restaurant with my friends and when I enter to the restaurant I found the restaurant is quiet but in Chinese the people who are in the restaurant are talking a lot. The quiet is the different between Chinese and American culture. In addition, when I finished the dinner with my friends, my friend said to me should you put the tips if you want to pay. I do not know about the tips before because there is no tips in China.  Also, I respect all differences cultures.    
Me: do you enjoy speaking with other exchange students?
yulong: yes, I enjoy speaking with other students because I want to learn about their culture.
Me: how long have you been in the United States?
Yulong: I have been here two months ago I came here in September 11, 2013.
Me: have you been able to visit any other parts of the United States?
Yulong: no, because there is no time because I came here before two months ago but maybe in the next vacation I will travel.
Me: what are your home country's major religions?
Yulong: there are many people do not have religions because they did not believe that but maybe the popular religion in China is Buddhism.
Me: what are influenced you to come to the United States? Especially, Saint Cloud State?
Yulong: I came here to Saint Cloud State because my major is here. Also, when I research about my major I found that St. Cloud State University has a high level education and I can improve my English faster.   
Me: do you have any questions for me? I have asked so many of you?
yulong: yes, what is your major?
Me: my major is Finance.
Yulong: thank you.
Me: you are welcome, I appreciate your help.
